RobB Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 That's a good looking Standard, but at over 10 lbs., that is a BRICK!!No thanks. I've never had a Standard weigh near that much.My korina Standard weighed more. 'Twas like strapping a headstone around your neck!Nice guitar, though...
cynic Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 In the recent guitar competition BTMN was involved in on the SD group, one or two voters there said they'd voted for the LP because they prefer a lighter guitar. That sounded odd to me given each of my 79s come in a few ozs proud of 8 lbs, which is lighter than nearly every non-weight relieved LP I've fondled.
cmatthes Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 That's probably because they've never actually played an Explorer or Standard.I was really surprised at how light they were the first time I tried one out. I was expecting all that real estate to fight gravity a lot more than it did!
gorch Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 All in all they are great guitars. This one looks really nice too. However, I'm not selling mine. It sounds and plays fantastic.
LordOfTheThighs Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Thats a great looking guitar. But jeez ... a shit ton of $$$. Just spitballing here, but maybe in Japan, the cost of a guitar like that is significantly more than it would be in the US? So the seller needs to sell for that price, to recoup his buying price? I dunno. AND no doubt, Hamer's demise inflates the selling price.
kizanski Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 AND no doubt, Hamer's demise inflates the selling asking price.Fixed.
dhuber Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Murkat once wrote there are no US customs charges for a US-made guitar being "repatriated" to the US.That is correct, because the country of orgin is the United States
ARM OF HAMER Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Porter is a good guy and a honest seller...............he has ALOT of great guitars! I know people that have purchased guitars from him................packing and shipping are top notch[As are his photos] and EMS to the USA is incredibly quick.I have sold half a dozen guitars to buyers in Canada they were all made in Japan [Yamaha] and Customs sent them right on through w/o any duties or fees attached of any kind.
