David B Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Well, I couldn't make it through work today. I went home & got there about 30 minutes before it arrived. It made it safe & sound. It is extremely light... on my bathroom scale, only 6.6 lbs! The pickups sound great as I thought they would. I re-strung it with .011s & it's ready to roll. Thank you Dave Peers for getting the order placed, Mike Shishkov for his hard work & in process pictures, Jackass for his last day heroics in getting the guitar out in time & everyone else at Hamer. You guys are the best! Note the "Bell" truss rod cover.
django49 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I am glad they got that one out for you!Just out of morbid curiosity, what is the FINAL serial number from Hamer?
JohnnyB Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 We should dub this the "Skin-of-the-Teeth Standard," arriving three days after the factory was shut down.At leat they went out with a bang (this gorgeous instrument) instead of a whimper. Great work to the very end, guys. I may never part with my 2000 Newport after this.
David B Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 I am glad they got that one out for you!Just out of morbid curiosity, what is the FINAL serial number from Hamer?3 56432 - I guess there could be one out there with a later number if it was finished before mine. Let's hope the remaining Hamers can be finished somehow. And by the way, I tried for more than one, but it was too late.
velorush Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Amazing. I love that headstock, the color, everything!
G Man Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Out with a big bang! That is beautiful. And 6.6 lbs? Absolutely killer.
RichRS6 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Perfection, and a wonderful way to go out.DIBS!Bugger.....But somehow I don't think it will ever leave David B.As a testament to the skills at the Hamer workshop it's a fitting farewell.Good that you managed to get a bell TRC they look so much better than the strange shaped ones the later Standards had.
hamerican gigolo Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Absolutely gorgeous!!! Beautiful & yet so sad at the same time.
Disturber Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Sad but glorious at the same time. A huge congrats. The last new "Hamer congrats" I will ever write I guess........
gfc55 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Thanks for sharing your beautiful Standard. The Hamer builders created great instruments right to the end.
Feynman Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Perfection, and a wonderful way to go out.Agreed. Perfect burst, no victory inlays, perfect logo....perfect everything. That's a Hamer.
cmatthes Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I'm just glad Jackass got that truss rod cover installed right side up...

cynic Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 As much as I hate the concept of there being a "last Hamer", that's a beauty and really shows off what we all love about them.Congrats and enjoy!
Stike Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 If we ask real nice can we play it at a Wizard Sleeves show sometime?
