Montelovesco Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Looks like everybody has his personal polka dot vector (sorry, Diablo, but that picture is too good not to use it). Here is the story:Got this 1980 Darkburst Special via ebay Germany. Seller lied about the condition, but the time gap between buying the guitar and getting her delivered by my stepfather was to big, so I did not insist. What were the problems?- There were some badly repaired chips on the side and the back of the guitar, going down to the wood, looking like Titebond.- The neck seemed loose, even if the guitar had not tuning issue.- The Bridge PU wasn't original- so were the knobs and the PU framesBut: sounded extremely good anyway. What I did: Changed the plastic parts and the bridge PU to a DiMarzio 36th Anniv. Humbucker. I forgot to mention: Someone changed the Schaller tuners to Grovers (that included drilling some holes). I changed them back, but the holes from the first replacement are still visible. Dropping the price due to this lack of information. Added some new pics to my photo bucket. Then, after rethinking and rethinking, I sent the guitar to THE MAN, and Murkat did, as usual, a great job: He regaled the neck and buffed the guitar to a nice vintage, yet shining finish. Came back to me, neck as steady as a rock, nearly invisible repair beside of some cracks in the finish, and the tone pot being a bit sturdy. Sounded even better, but - and that's the polka dot here - we did not come together. You know how it is like - you can't put the the finger in it but you know somethings wrong. Be it the neck (lets of wood in your hand), be it the sound - I do not know. But what I know is: This is a fine guitar, looking great and sounding killer.I am looking for 900 850 800 Euro on this one or best offer. This doesn't cover the expenses, but we did know this when we started, didn't we? Sind I have to refund another purchase I can't do a trade here, sorry. Montelovesco Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 A bit more sustain due to the better connection between neck and body, but this can be fantasy. Great sound before and after....

murkat Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Daniel did the Jay repair on the neck change the sound of it ?For the better, yes.The neck was on its way out of the neck joint, just hanging on a few bits of glue and wood fibers.Neck was pulled, reset, finsih repair around it.Guitar was totally broke down prior to repair.then when the procedure was completed,Guitar was buffed, polished, frets leveled, frets, fretboard highly polished.setup to prior specs.Nice mediu c shape neck, almost chunky.Great, thick sounding, with sustain block chime.good guitar.

Sugartune Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 If you're running out of room, I'd gladly be your North American storage service. AND I'd even pay YOU for that arrangement. 350 I do really love that one. Everyone should have a guitar from their birth year, I think.

Yeah, that might be tough. Doesn't have to be Hamer, but even better if it can be.
