elduave Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Z Brown/War Pigs Monday, last night Heart:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qgdVZq1PfkI've watched this a bunch. Love it.Some guy I don't know tonight, and as CM has tipped, Rick Nielsen Thu/Fri.
MCChris Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Rick N Thu/Fri. After which they'll be jetting to Chicago for a small club show. $20 tix. I should go and get in Grohl's grill about how he's not doing enough to push rock music forward.http://chicagoist.com/2014/10/14/foo_fighters_to_play_cubby_bear_thi.php
elduave Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 Pretty sure Friday show will be taped on Thursday, so they won't be *quite* so jetted, but yeah. I see from your link that HBO's Facebook page will stream the show live! I wonder what time they'll actually play since you would think they don't want to compete with themselves on Letterman or HBO network (Sonic Highways premiers Friday). I'm such a geek.
bcsride Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 proof that you can never have too many guitars in a band.
Never2Late Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 This is proof-positive that David Letterman is REALLY a fan of the band, but I don't understand 'why' - he didn't 'get' Grunge at all (Dave is a long-time Warren Zevon fan).....this stuff should not really be in Dave's wheelhouse. But, there it is...Conan OBrien I could understand, but not Dave.
cmatthes Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I think they've been great. We caught them in a small club here in DC last May as a "surprise" guest, but we had a STRONG inkling that it was going to end up as a Foo show. People were actually leaving after the third hour, during Troublefunk's set, because there wasn't a single sign of Foo gear anywhere. I knew that the video/film disclaimers from "Roswell Productions" everywhere was a pretty damned solid clue. They even had black paper taped over the Foo logos on all the road cases. When they started putting up Foo merch at 11:00pm, I figured it was a lock! Full two PLUS hours of rawk followed...

elduave Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 I still can't believe Zander (my 10 year old) made it through all that! cmatthes Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Zander was a trooper. We looked up halfway through the Foo's (LONG) set, and he was leaning against the railing a bit, but there was fist pumping...
Carl.B Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I am not a huge Foo Fighters fan I like some of there stuff and some of it does nothing for me. But after buying the Sound City DVD I have more respect for Dave Grohl and I really like the stuff they put out on that DVD. After seeing them on RnR HOF show when Rush was inducted and now with these songs from the David Letterman show they sound great. I think I like them better not doing there Foo Fighters music and Dave not being the center of attention IMHO. I think they write, create and collaborate with other musicans better than they do as the Foo Fighters. Carl.B.
Hamerica Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Excellent! I remember the Foos were going to be on Letterman however, I didn't DVR the show! Many thanks!Hamerica
BTMN Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Foos!!!!http://www.foofighters.com/http://www.foofighters.com/news/live-at-the-chubby-bear11:59pm Eastern Thursday night on HBO's FB page.
Biz Prof Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Never liked grunge as a genre, but the Foos really are an excellent rock band that emerged from the 90s as a legitimate nod to the heavy AOR rock bands of the 70s. They are one of the very, very few contemporary acts I enjoy.
ZR Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Does anyone know who's coming up tonight and Friday? I've DVR'd both.
Hamerica Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 It's in the...Thread.Ok, I'll Surrender...who is it?Hamerica
