The Shark Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Major purchase on the horizon. I'm going to sell some real gems. The first is my 2006 Robin Avalon flattop flametop. Ernie Santella can tell you it's killer. I think it's the only one Dave Wintz ever made. Guitar's neck is a little wider. Not thick. Not thin. Very comfortable. Under eight pounds. Coil taps yield very usable sounds. One knob has a visible crack, but is structurally sound. Case logo is peeling away. Guitar is sold.
kizanski Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I have photos of this one being buffed out at the factory.Even before that process, it was a stunner!
bubs_42 Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 For a good reason I had put this guitar out of my mind for a long time. Darn you!
The Shark Posted October 20, 2014 Author Posted October 20, 2014 For a good reason I had put this guitar out of my mind for a long time. Darn you!Time for some of my money to come home, Bubs? It's really as good a guitar as it looks.
santellavision Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 As a former owner of this axe, it really is a nice guitar in every way. A piece of history for sure!!
django49 Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I had an Avalon quite a while ago. Very good guitars. GLWS.
kizanski Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Pictures from the factory. October 7th, 2006
a.bandini Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Lovely guitar, for sure, and cool build photos. What's with the expanding foam on the buffing machine? Noise suppression?Back to the thread, and good luck with the sale.
The Shark Posted October 20, 2014 Author Posted October 20, 2014 I'm guessing the foam is to protect the guitar, if it "kicks" out of hand.
JGale Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 This guitar was my wallpaper for a loooong time.
The Shark Posted October 22, 2014 Author Posted October 22, 2014 Thanks to Mr. Kizanski. Accepting offers. Need to pay for the PRS Santana I. Thanks.
bubs_42 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Thanks to Robin and Rio Grande being one in the same you can take this guitar from Humbuckers to P90's and back again without any mods. Heck P90 Neck and a Humbucking Bridge
The Shark Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 I have a P90 and mounting ring that I'll throw in with the deal!
The Shark Posted October 27, 2014 Author Posted October 27, 2014 Now on eBay. Never to be seen again....unless someone here makes me an offer!
The Shark Posted October 30, 2014 Author Posted October 30, 2014 How about $1,500 shipped in the lower 48?
Feynman Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 No way - that's too cheap. They don't deserve to have it at that price.
The Shark Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 It could go for $1,199 plus shipping, if nobody else bids!http://www.ebay.com/itm/Robin-Avalon-Flattop-Flametop-Only-One-Ever-Made-/331358076630?pt=Guitar&hash=item4d267afed6#ht_101wt_900
