mc2 Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 I had this one for,a few years. One of those I probably should have held onto....3 PUP TV Yellow.
tomteriffic Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Jon, is that one of the ones built for Bill Kaman?
mc2 Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Ya know....I really can't recall where I got that Eclipse from. I got it before Hurricane Katrina but I don't remember if it was a Craigs List, EBAY or an online dealer where I found it. But it was dead mint and a great guitar. Every time a certain friend of mine stopped by, THAT was the guitar he wanted to pull out to use. It really was a nice one.I sold a bunch of gear after Hurricane Katrina when I needed cash to fix my house back up and that Eclipse was in that lot.I think I sold it on EBAY.Tom Dumont from No Doubt has one just like it.
Caddie Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Total Eclipse: "none more black..." i took the time to walk thru your photobucket collection of guitars & amps. Holy Mother of Pearl! Even in today's depressed used gear market, you have huge $$$ hanging on the wall and sitting on the floor. Maybe $100k, depending on those Gibson goldtops it could be closer to $200k. Don't tell your wife but that's a lot of money in guitars. Keep the doors locked. On second thought get an alarm system. Maybe a couple of mean ol' junkyard dogs. Yeah ok, Hamstd probly has you beat on Hamers but your overall collection is impressive. Cheers! caddie
Caddie Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I recently put locking tuners on my '96 Eclipse, otherwise its orig. Love that guitar. If you have any doubts about keeping it, plug it into a Princeton Reverb. Your Eclipse will be a keeper.Cheers!caddie
DaveH Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Just posted this in the korina thread, but I'll add to it: I also have one in Ferrari red, and a dark green (from BadgerDave), but no pics handy... maybe later. I really like the Eclipses.
ghamerinfrance Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Is this possible to dibs hereinincluded when available ?
sonny o'hoolighan Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I had a 3 pickup Eclipse for a while. It also had 3 mini-toggles that controlled series, parallel, and I can't remember what else. Interesting guitar, but a little complicated. My guitar instructor has it now, and really digs it.
Caddie Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Just posted this in the korina thread, but I'll add to it: OMG, I think I just pee'd a little. caddie
3of5 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I had this burst for a few years. Sold it here about 2-3 years ago.
mudshark Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I've owned a red '95 since 1997...love it, and will keep it the rest of my days.
DaveH Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Is this possible to dibs hereinincluded when available ? No plans for it to be available, sorry.
DaveH Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Just posted this in the korina thread, but I'll add to it: OMG, I think I just pee'd a little. caddie Lol, too funny! It IS sweet, huh? For the life of me I can't figure out why anyone would choose such a rare guitar to start cutting on and modifying. I made the best of it and this is what it ended up, but just know that it wasn't me that cut the rout for the P90. At least hey did a clean job of it.
BillW Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 New to the forum here!I'm a big fan of the eclipse. Love the mini buckers, love the transparent cherry, love the feel of the neck, love the wrap tailpiece.Never had the opportunity to play one in a band setting though. Need to find a way to make that happen...subtle sneak-in there, md9255...welcome to the board! - please feel free to 'share your wares', we love guitar porn (or is it pron?) especially the Hamer variety.I played a nice Eclipse at the 4-3-2-1 club one night ( I think it belonged to Bloozguy?) I didn't hear it plugged in but it was setup perfectly and played like a dream (surprisingly resonant too) Some day maybe I'll pick one up, they've always intrigued me.
landon w Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 I guess I'll join this appreciation thread tonight, as well
Fishleehooker Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I am getting my red one refinished by Stike. Rowyco. He is doing a fantastic job. Here are pics. I was going to do TV Yellow, then thought about a real cool sparkle, then settled on a burst, and am very happy I went that route. Here are a few pics pre finish. Love my Eclipse. I use it for 5 string G a la Keith Richards and have yet to fins a guitar do that thing better for me. Very very solid guitar.
Fishleehooker Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Thank you! It is good to be here in the Hamer forum. There are a few more Hamers I look forward to adding to my collection. I also own 3 Thorns and 2 Lentz guitars, as well as a heavily modded Gibson BFG. But My Hamer is the best one for open G. Sound just like Keith Richards if you do it right on this one. Anyway,Here is one more pic.
