Steve Haynie Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Is the upper "horn" a little different than a Standard?
BubbaVO Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I havent plugged it in yet but I can say this is the best guitar I have ever owned! The WHOLE guitar is resonates even when just hitting a single string. It almost like its alive but it really isn't which is good because that would be freaky. The ebony board feels great and notice the truss rod cover. Nice touch. I am more than happy with non bound headstock. I didn't know if my conversation with mike about the neck profile translated but he nailed it. I wanted one similar to a vintage Hamer and I got it. I agree it may be wider like chris mentioned but it feel good. This short post will have to do for now as I need to spend some time with this. cmatthes Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Actually, the entire body (and headstock) is different from a Hamer Standard. Good eye, Steve! Is the upper "horn" a little different than a Standard?
David B Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Actually, the entire body (and headstock) is different from a Hamer Standard. Good eye, Steve! Is the upper "horn" a little different than a Standard?I thought I was seeing that as well.
serial Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I played mine at practice on Sunday afternoon. Playing single string notes, they're ballsy as hell and sustain forever until feedback. Best way I could describe the bridge pickup on mine was "Highway to Hell". Loud and ballsy. I very much like these pickups!
Teh Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 My gawd, there's some beautiful instruments on these pages. I'm sorry that this body style is not my cup of tea, but there's no doubt the craftsmanship on these guitars is incredible. I can't wait to hear that Mike is offering something in a semi hollow or single cutaway design - I'll be all over that like white on rice...
mc2 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Beautiful work MIKE !! Congrats to all the lucky recipients. Chris.....you should have had small packs of Shishkov logo'd tissues enclosed with the case candy for the first run
The Shark Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Is it with Brent? If so, the video clips should be soon to follow...That said, a "Brent's Guitar Emporium - Shishkov Ultimate Edition" would be a welcome addition to the narrative!ETA: it seems CMatthes beat me to the punch. this would never happen because it would have to have a hideous headstock and be up for sale three days after purchase. Ouch!

Thundersteel Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge--that trans Black is absolutely STUNNING!
carfish7 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Hey all - first log-in here in months due to no longer having time to breathe much less look at guitar porn or chat with you mooks, but I had to get a peek at some new guitar Ted got in the mail recently. I think he done good. REAL good! As have all of you who managed to jump on what has to be a somewhat historic and completely awesome offering that clearly has a significant amount of genuine magic surrounding it. Look at those works of art! I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a touch green right now. I can't wait to play that damn thing LOUD this weekend............. Looking forward to seeing more of these as they find their new homes and get played. Hope all you HFC'ers are well and well-tended. I do miss this place and hope things chill a bit soon so I can get caught up. Peace! Z
LordOfTheThighs Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 WOW!I'm just floored by these guitar pics. If they sound and play as good as they look, then The Shish is gonna busy fillingout new orders for quite a while. To the new owners, ENJOY!
cmatthes Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Had to do a quick solo beach trip today, so took a Shishkov along for the ride...
Hfan Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Ultimate beach / guitar picture there^^. Watch the damn sand. This is a great story in general..happy for all you new owners and happy for Mr Shiskov.Any word on other possible body styles to come? Maybe I can extract myself from the low rent, but very satisfying CL rut I've been in.
cmatthes Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Mike's getting this run locked down and out the door first, but I'm sure we'll be seeing some cool new stuff later on this year! Until then...
Boomerang~Junkie Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 ^ ^ Hmmm . . . ^ ^ I just thought it was a directional arrow that Mike slipped in there in case Chris got so drunk he couldn't find the strings!
BTMN Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 I "see" the outline of Darth's goggles and brow along with a nosepiece/mouthpiece.
The Shark Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Had to do a quick solo beach trip today, so took a Shishkov along for the ride... Your guitar is prettier than the ocean.
scottcald Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Had to do a quick solo beach trip today, so took a Shishkov along for the ride... HAD to, huh? Yeah, I'm weeping for you. Seriously, awesome guitar. Can't wait to see the future Shishkov creations.
