Willie G. Moseley Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Anybody else just see this? Dunno that I would have watched it but the Missus called my attention to it. Henley came off as relatively outgoing and eloquent (he's got a new solo album to promote) but there seemed to be a kind of invisible "buffer" surrounding his persona, FWMOW. He seemed to not shy away from the (token and expected) controversial questions, so that's to his credit, I suppose.Doesn't make me more of a fan, however. Henley's always been sanctimonious, but any overall respect I might have had for his career really dropped off RE the Eagles reunion a while back where Don and Glenn demanded (and apparently got) more $,"He's kind of complex, isn't he?" said the Missus. And BTW, does anyone know what the song was he sang in a green spotlight at the first Farm Aid in '85? Only time I've ever heard it. Sounded like a farmer's lament, and the lyrics also allude to generational differences from a military veteran's point of view ("That little punk, he never had to serve"). Appropriate for the event, I suppose. This has been buggin' me for three decades on accounta I never found out what it was.
Biz Prof Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 I saw it, too, Willie. He seemed more open to discussion of the good and bad of his tenure as Dear Leader of the Eagles. He also shared something I hadn't heard to date: that it would be Frey--not him--that would call an end to the Eagles. My opinion of him parallels yours. He's a sanctimonious prick, and although he's made some good music, it is hard to stomach his strong arm tactics in dealing with his band mates not named "Frey". I have no idea what that tune was, but I remember it. I always figured that someone else wrote it, hence the one-off performance.
Brooks Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 my buddy from college, alex hahn, plays drums on a few tunes on dons new album

Ting Ho Dung Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I hadn't heard anything from him since BTPB and for some reason thought of him last week while u-tubing. There is nothing of him on youtube at all except Boys of Summer and a duet he did with someone I don't recall. I watched some of Sunday Morning but managed to miss the smegment. Has he done nothing in the last 30 years? Joe W was the drunk and he's gone on to do a lot of good things. Here's the song from Farm Aid.
ARM OF HAMER Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 An arrogant and selfish prick if there ever was one.....................when I see him playing or in a interview on TV " I TURN THE SOUND DOWN AND SAY RUDE THINGS "
specialk Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Can't let this thread get too far without this classic:

Ting Ho Dung Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Wow. Guess who just showed up on CBS This Morning, this morning? Don Henley! Charlie Rose was strong right out of the gate. His first question was why did it take you 15 years to make another solo album. Henley explained that The Eagles has never quit touring and when he isn't doing that he has 3 teenagers at home he likes to spend time with. I didn't get any of the indignant arrogance you guys picked up. He seemed quite grounded. He talked about his new album that comes out first in Vinyl this Friday. Cass County is the title. He said that's the county where he grew up in Texas that boasts about 30k citizens mostly of modest means. He says he doesn't care for the lime light and he tries to keep his kids away from it and that he enjoys his privacy. He spoke with quite the Texan accent and said he lives quite an ordinary life, pumps his own gas, mows his own lawn, pushes the shopping cart down the isles at the market. He said you haven't lived though until you hear "Desperado" while looking at the frozen peas. I remembered then that it was the song, "Last Worthless Evening," if that's what it's called, that I heard last week piping over the intercom at Publix. People glanced my way as I was grabbing an 18 pack of Busch Beer and singing along in the checkout line, "I've been around this block a time or two, I've made some big mistakes." I can't help singing along to that line. Those are great lyrics. I'm still a fan.
