Hammer- perhaps an unkown period/line of production somewhere between Hamer and Slammer series?

Kinda blunt negotiating tack, innit!
caustic69 Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 I don't have a Cali but would like one. What about the korean made versions? How do they compare to the late 80s USA versions?

Hammer- perhaps an unkown period/line of production somewhere between Hamer and Slammer series? Sounds like the guy I sold mine to...who'd never heard of Hamer...(!!!) Kinda blunt negotiating tack, innit! You've served me some serious temptation, here... If not for the dings and the non-Schaller Floyd (a little rough in the trem' route, too) I'd be in some serious straits. My place is kinda small for 6 guitars that I only occasionally play. My old Cali' may've been a little darker looking than this one, but the sparkly finish was really nice and unbroken by wear marks. Is that perfectionism?
harry65 Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 my shameless cali plug............. seriously though best shredder guitars i ever played , i owned three cali's in my life , sadly all are long gone , it's what turned me onto hamer and i have never looked back....................
ton13 Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Cali have best of character. 27 frets . nice shape. cool headstock . best wood for Rock. & since 1988 until 2010 they are never out for look or for play.

Victor (Fret Friend) Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 A Cali is my dream guitar. Hope to get one sometime soon
diablo175 Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 A Cali is my dream guitar. Hope to get one sometime soon Take this with a grain of salt- Cali are awesome and I currently own 2 and have sold 2. But IMO, they aren't the end-all, be-all of shredders. My Diablo as well as my Jacksons and Charvels hold up as well as if not better than the Cali's. It's a personal preference thing (as with most opinons) but I find that the Cali's tend to sound too trebly and lack some of the beef that I get from similarly equipped DK1's or RR1's. It's all good. They're GREAT axes and you can't beat the fret access or the distinctive look. Just not the first ax I would reach for to shred...
cloakerz Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 I love my $500 cali elite! Can't put it down. I sold my prs ce22 after acquiring the cali.

Not stating that as a universal truth, Proxmax, just stating from my experience based on several different types of amps (Mesa Roadster, Peavey Bandit, Kustom HV/100THD) and numerous pup combinations including stock OBL's, PATB1's, EMG's and aftermarket Seymour Duncan Blackouts.. Your mileage may vary.
diablo175 Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Uhh, anyone know why this thread got bumped up to the front? The last post here (prior to this one) was dated Oct. 8th... ghosts in the machine again?
cmatthes Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 No "ghosts" - somebody simply voted in the poll, which bumped it back up, that's all.Same thing happens on TGP and any otjer site that enables poll voting that I've ever visited.
