atomicwash Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 0059. There it sat on Thursday, waiting for the FedEx truck.
atomicwash Posted May 31, 2017 Author Posted May 31, 2017 Then at 3:04 today, I get a DELIVERED message. And I had to look at it in my office for an hour and a half. Trish warned me, but I was not prepared. The top is amazing. How do you prepare yourself for this?
django49 Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Both the color and the wood grain are lovely. Congrats!
atomicwash Posted May 31, 2017 Author Posted May 31, 2017 It all started with a piece of wood. I love this one.
cmatthes Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I guess it's fitting that #0059 is a singlecut! Killer finish - what a great idea. That top though... Thumbs up, sir!
ArnieZ Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Beautiful!! Seems like every one is out of the park! arniez
Steve Haynie Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 That first photo had me thinking the guitar had an arched top. Wow!

But Mike offers both: regular flat- and custom arched top. I tend to like more of an arched Maverick version. Curves similar to those http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/topic/79461-another-dc-custom-just-headed-out/:
soli'd Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Wow! Is that raspberry to blueberry burst? Never seen a finish like that. Beautiful instrument.

The color is based on the purpleburst trio that Greg had for sale a while back. The Jr in that set really spoke to me(!). The blue haze on the outside of the burst is amazing; it really glows in the right light.
Jakeboy Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Wowzers! What a beautiful guitar. LOVE the blue to red burst! Tell us about how it sounds....what pickups, etc. what vibrato? And what does the mini-switch do?
sonic1974 Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Awesome. I really like how the sides/back are natural, really nicely balances things out. Rock out with it!!

Tell us about how it sounds....what pickups, etc. what vibrato? And what does the mini-switch do? Band rehearsal on Thursday... I'll know more after playing at full volume. It has Josh's Charlotte pickups. They have a little gritty hair on 10 and clean up right away by rolling off the volume. With a long history of playing Gretsch/TV Jones & Tele's, I like clean and bright. Charlotte is right there. The toggle splits the bridge pickup; Not a huge volume drop when switching to single coil - pleasantly surprised! Both positions sound excellent just as Josh described (and he suggested the split for my taste in Pretenders, Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, 80's wave, etc.). The other Charlotte is very bright for the neck position. Lots of tone options. The bridge is a MannMade 2020 Classic. Grover tuners. I like these on my Hamers, so I requested them here. 25-1/2 scale. Larger neck, D shape; very similar to my '07 Standard, which is exactly what I wanted. 1.7" neck width at the nut. Ebony fretboard with abalone dots. Must be around 7.5 lbs, super light. Easy to play. I love the bound headstock and the flat top. I was so glad Mike's SC model featured the flat top. I'm very fond of the Sunburst model, you know.
