django49 Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Any hints on current production rates? A couple a month? I ask because.......
cmatthes Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Mike does them in batches. Any number of factors can either make things go faster or slower than the last batch. Not really predictable, because things can change, parts can be delayed, wood doesn't cooperate, tools don't cooperate, LIFE doesn't cooperate...
bubs_42 Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Still one of my Favorite Tops so far. Looks like a Crocodile.
ArnieZ Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 That’s going to be a beautiful guitar!! ArnieZ

My top is beautiful but I think the finish takes it to the next level ! arniez
The Shark Posted February 24, 2018 Author Posted February 24, 2018 I had dinner with my wife at Ruth's Chris, saw Eric Johnson and Areille (fantastic new Austin talent) and got an e-mail from Mike and Trish upon returning home. The day just got better and better. I just love seeing Mike's hands building my guitar. It's so cool... Let the carving begin!
hamerhead Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Yeah, I'd say that's a pretty good day. Love that top on that one.
bubs_42 Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 We have been watching that plank for some time now, its almost a shame that its going to get carved. Not that its not going to be kick ass, but man does look tremendous as a flat plank!
The Shark Posted March 2, 2018 Author Posted March 2, 2018 More of Mike's hard work... Such a wonderful diversion from my current fourteen hour days...
The Shark Posted March 9, 2018 Author Posted March 9, 2018 Thanks to Trish for posting the video. Neck carve is about to happen. Specs are roughly a '59 carve and a tad bit more girth. Should be fantastic...
The Shark Posted March 27, 2018 Author Posted March 27, 2018 Trish says the guitar is headed to paint very soon. The first pic is the tint, or lack thereof, that I want. Damn... The last one is pretty close to what I want too...
hamerhead Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Jeezus - that thing looks bumpy, like it has actual ridges. That's a helluva flame. Nice.
Steve Haynie Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 The illusion of ridges in that top is as perfect as it gets.
The Shark Posted March 28, 2018 Author Posted March 28, 2018 Yeah, I'm not really sure how it can be smooth...
The Shark Posted April 11, 2018 Author Posted April 11, 2018 I'm thinking it won't be long now. Even if it is longer than I think.
cmatthes Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 It's also really good news that Mike is always stocked up on shipping boxes!
The Shark Posted April 12, 2018 Author Posted April 12, 2018 Tax Season is over next Tuesday. I'm guessing I'll be really enjoying my gigs through the summer with this...
