coffeeroastee Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 welp I had to return it to so its back, also now featuring a gibson bridge pickup. I just didnt love it. great upper mids but low mid scooped and mushy soft bass, even when I put the gibson pup in. honestly I've had a bunch of Hamers and it wasn't as cool as a Newport Pro or gold top studio from 01 I had for my playing style. Def. not as honky mids as a 335 or as much sparkle and balance as a Newport. But great neck profile and stunning burst finish. The frets do eventually need leveling, action has to be higher than some may find comfortable for @12th fret whole step bends to not fret out. I play slide a bunch and my treble strings are high on all my guitars so I didn't run into the earlier stated problems from previous owners. I will say compared to my gibson sg classic with p90s I found the Hamer neck profile more comfortable but the sg had more mid range assertiveness and sparkle. Honestly feel this Artist would be suited to someone playing swing, 50s style r&b, funk etc.
