Here's my BCR Jr - easily the best instrument I've ever owned.

It makes the sound of the guitar louder.

It's a 1995 Budda Twinmaster (#169) w/ matching 2x12 cab (Vintage 30s). It's one of earliest examples, as evidenced by the all black/white letter badges and grey piping. I purchased it from the second owner and it had never left his house in the nearly 20 years that he owned it.

I've never heard a more fierce rock guitar tone than a cranked Twinmaster. This holds true especially for this rig - the 2x12s roar like Godzilla. The tone is much throatier than the 2x10 or 1x12 Twinmaster models, and it sounds like the demon offspring of a 18 watt Marshall and an AC30.

I've only see a handful of factory 2x12 Twinmaster rigs - maybe two in the last two decades.

The BCR Jr really shines with this amp, and it's flat-out amazing when you get things cooking. My reference tone has also been Leslie West's live tone in his Mountain days, and this setup gets me there in spades. It's amazing how loud this little 18 watt amp can get - it will kill a small animal at five feet when cranked.

BTW - you can see the power cord peeking out on the left side of the head. The damn rectifier tube is so massive in these amps, you could cook a chicken inside the cab. I have to secure the cord away from the rectifier's heat or risk melting the cord.

NICE!!!

I’ve got an SD30 1x12 combo but I also have an extra head shell and a Budda 2x12 extension cab so I can set it up like you’ve got it. Love the Buddas and I’ve heard only great things about the Twinmasters. I might try finding one of those for myself some day. Already working on the Junior…. 😉

2004. Purchased NOS (stock) in 2014.

One piece bird's eye/figured korina body (6#15oz. total weight). Fat neck. MojoAxe bridge. Lollar +5% P-90. Replaced original crappy Schaller keystone tuners with TonePros small button tuners. Best playing Gibson scale guitar I've owned. Sounds unreal.

I really want one of those MojoAxe bridges, they look to be the goods, but post to Australia is very delayed at the moment.

Is the Lollar a soapbar or a dog ear ?

That’s a dog eared p90. The only difference between a dog ear and a soap bar is the method in which they’re mounted. The dog ear has the triangular mounting tabs on either side of the pickup, while a soap bar does not. The soap bar p90 is mounted by two screws in the middle of the pickup and without the triangular tabs is purely rectangular shaped and thus resembles a bar of soap.

Ua D’s Junior with the the figured maple top in the next post is a soap bar p90 so you can compare the aesthetics of the two.

thanks Travis, The reason I asked is that I checked the pickup in my Korina Jr and it's actually a soapbar, but the cover has the visual aesthetics of a dog ear

The only difference between the two is the aesthetic due to the difference in mounting hardware. The pickup inside is the same. Here’s a link to a more extensive explanation.

The lightning bolt MojoAxe bridge intonates perfectly on the Jr.  I used TonePros locking bridge studs with the oversized ‘cap bolts’ intended for use with a PRS SE bridge as they’re lower profile (not as blocky) than the regular bolts and cover more area on the bridge hooks themselves.
