BCR Greg Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Jim was a shred guy. Hilariously funny and prickly at times, he was a very talented guitarist and hard core Star Trek junkie. He went to bed Tuesday night and didn't wake up. He knew all the cool bands and was a very good friend. This vid from 2003 at the HFC Jam shows his crazy technique and Paul and I just went along for the ride. Go with God, Jim. See you round the bend.
kizanski Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 I'll save you all the 10 minutes viewing time and show you the best part.
cmatthes Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Damn. Jim was a good guy. We hadn’t connected in person in many years, but stayed in contact via FB until right before the holidays. Very sorry to hear.
BruceM Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 I'm so sorry to hear this news, Greg, and sorry that you lost your friend. I did not know him, but I was in attendance at this epic jam. I remember the weekend well, as it was the first time I met many of the HFC legends. Rest in Peace.
Hamerica Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 BCR Greg, thank you sir for posting. To Jim's friends and family very sorry for your loss. Like many. I had met Jim through the HFC events. Like BruceM, I didn't really know Jim. All of the HFC events were memorable for one reason or another. The video above was a testament to the talent many of the HFC members had as well as their love of the guitars. I've stated many times, I have life long friends because of a little ol' band from Rockford and a guitar company out of Chicago. meedlee, meedlee, meedelee - God's speed Jim. I hope your playing somewhere on stage. "If there's a rock and roll heaven, then you know they got a hell of a band." Best wishes, Hamerica
BTMN Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 Sad news indeed. Hamerica’s words sit well in tribute.
