RIP Dave Wintz of Robin Guitars

A good man and a long distance friend.  Met him at the Orlando Guitar Show in 1991 or 1992.  Spent all afternoon talking to him and had dinner with him and a few other dealers.  Spoke to him six weeks ago and he seemed fine.  Started up Robin again and was taking orders.  Damn.

Unexpected, so it's unnerving. I'd talked to him about ten days ago. IMO, one of the better innovators of styles in modern guitar making.

Wow…that’s awful news.

My brother Carl and I  used to look through guitar mags back in the day with those guitars your mother told you not to run with from Robin.

Then, the Vaughn Bros showed up with a double neck, then and so forth and so on.

Agree with Willie, one of the better innovators of styles in modern guitar making.

To Dave's family, friends, and his fans, sorry for your loss.

Quite a few fans here had some of Robins latest products.

Very sad. I dealt with Dave when I had my store. I bought Rio Grande pickups from him. He was a fine gentleman. I will cherish my '96 Studio that much more now. He wound a set of Gold covered Texas Buckers special for me for this guitar. A little hotter bridge and a little underwound neck. He didn't have to, but he did. That's the kind of guy he was. We had many great conversations on the phone. My condolences to his friends and family..

He was a genius.

You made me a believer.  I love every Robin you ever sold me.
