rugby1970 Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 Is it possible to replace P-90's on a Special with traditional humbuckers without greatly modifying the guitar? Thanks.
rugby1970 Posted November 21, 2022 Author Posted November 21, 2022 Just watched a video of this. Too much work?

Thanks. It's a mucho different rout. Try a set of Mojotone '56 Quiet Coil pickups instead. Thank me later.
scottcald Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Also, Dimarzio (and I'm sure others) make P90 sized humbuckers with two rows of poles.
Jeff R Posted November 24, 2022 Posted November 24, 2022 ^ This. I've twice put Dimarzio DLX Plus duets in mahogany set-necks and was VERY pleased with the results. Zero alterations or mods to make it happen. Here's one of them, an intensive 70s Deluxe restoration me and HEL Shannon did.

Jakeboy Posted November 25, 2022 Posted November 25, 2022 @hamerheadhas the solution. And you can choose between NY minis or birds.
BoogieMKIIA Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 Kinda wish I left the mini humbuckers in my LP Deluxe. They are quite good.

I figured that I could scratch my mini-hum itch with an Eclipse. Anyway, what brand of mini-humbucker do you recommend?
hamerhead Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 That was my gigging guitar for quite a while. I went thru a ton of pickups (those pictured are Gibsons IIRC but I tried Dimarzios, Duncans, etc), eventually landing on GFS minis that not only sounded great but are cheapcheapcheap. 3 P90 Artist? I'd put a set of Josh's Firebird pickups in there and never look back.

The bridge/middle really evoked the Knopfler thing quite well.
HamerCustomEr Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 So, do I order two neck pickups and a bridge pickup? And should I go with the two-conductor option for each pickup? I am going to wire it up simply: no fancy phase or parallel for me.
hamerhead Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 If you go the Gravelin route, Josh already knows what your brain wants. Contact him.

hamerhead Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 That's a damn good question. I can't remember what I had for breakfast.

atomicwash Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 TV Jones offers various models in a P-90 soapbar configuration.
