nasonm Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Found this Hamer for sale locally with case. Seller is asking $800 for the guitar and an older Peavey amp as a set. I **think** it's a Mirage II Koa. Is it worth much? Should I buy it?
Steve Haynie Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 If you can get it for $350 grab it now and trade it off if you do not like. it.
Jimbilly Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 when I bought one of those I paid $600 iirc, around 20-23 years ago, I think I sold it a couple of years later (unless it's buried around here under piles of other gear..) for a bit more. I imagine they are worth more now.

Hbom Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Pretty nice guitars. You don't give enough information for me to answer your question. If you like it and the price is fair. BUY IT!
nasonm Posted October 10, 2023 Author Posted October 10, 2023 Added that the seller is looking for $800 for the guitar and Peavey amp as a set.
Hbom Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 NOW!! Right Now. Get off The Internet and run to his house!

I would buy it, unless it's got like a broken head stock or neck or something. You can always use the Peavey as a doorstop if it's not something you can play or sell.
Steve Haynie Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Follow the advice of those who say RUN over there and snap it up!
nasonm Posted October 10, 2023 Author Posted October 10, 2023 Just now, kizanski said: $800 is less than half of what it's worth. That's what I thought. I've been hunting for a Newport or Monaco III but I know some Hamer's are worth more than others.
bry4321 Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Unless you need the amp I would try to get a slight discount and just get the guitar. I was going to joke "ask him if he will take $900 w/out the Peavey" but my 1st real amp was a Peavey. I know they have some good ones. Also the "buy it now you fool" posts came out even faster than usual in case that is any indication

Buy it and if you decide you don't love it, you can always flip it with the amp and double your money... it would be cool if the Peavey amp was an old tube Classic 👍

scottcald Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 If it's a Peavey VTM120, take it. Those are cool amps if you're a Marshall-ish person.

beezerboy Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 YES! Mirage II... great guitars. heavy AF but killer sound. worth more than 8 for sure
Brooks Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Cool guitar, buy it. Many Peaveys are quite decent (Butcher, VTM, Classic, Bandit, etc).
nasonm Posted October 11, 2023 Author Posted October 11, 2023 The Peavey is a Studio 130 which are great according to Zac Childs
Steve Haynie Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 You have had all afternoon and early evening to go buy the guitar and amp. Do you have it or not? When you were told "run" we meant it!
Travis Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 Everyone here is telling you the same thing. And I’m not going to tell you anything different. Buy that Mirage II now, if you haven’t already. I’ve got one, it’s awesome. I’ve also got a Mirage I and a Mirage Maple. I don’t “need” another one; but if you don’t buy that for $800 then you might need to tell me where it is and I’ll go after it…
beezerboy Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 yeah. I played mine next to McCarty, LP Custom shop, Kodiak custom and other boutiques and it did not take a back seat to any. even the guys that owned those other guitars agreed. they are a monster... I sold mine because it was heavy, and I am old. I loved the sound and how it played but I could barely make a set with out having to sit down. that and I still have 6 other Hamer P.S. == I sold mine for $1000 and people called me dumbass
