shankyboy Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 I have to buy new gear every year for tax purposes. It's either spend the money on new gear or give it to Uncle Sam. I rarely sell anything but I have recently gotten to the point where I have a lot more gear than I have space in my house so I keep trying to convince myself to start selling off some gear but I just can't make myself part with any of it. I am weak. 1 Quote
LucSulla Posted October 11, 2024 Author Posted October 11, 2024 Well, I've failed miserably at this. I don't even know if I've sold as much as I bought. Quote

I've lost count of the items in both the bought and sold columns. In addition to several impulse buys and a substantial backlog of $ hefty, waiting to be sold items, there is the unplanned Iceman custom build that proceeds apace. I'd feel a whole lot better about all this if the band was gigging enough to sorta, kinda warrant these acquisitions. Quote
jwhitcomb3 Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 I was doing pretty well until my drummer posted a link to Korg's outlet store on Reverb. This brand new Korean made Vox Bobcat was $500 shipped with a quality hard shell case. Such a great guitar - the pickups can do both the JazzMaster and P90 thing with a twist of the volume knob. 3 Quote

When I was actually in a gigging situation, I found I never had GAS or bought anything because I actually had music to focus on. Never really thought about it at the time, but realized it some months after we had stopped - suddenly the GAS was back (and all for naught - "museum building" effort?). 🤔 2 Quote

It's only my desire to stay one step ahead of bankruptcy and divorce that keep me from acting on it. 1 2 Quote

And I for one appreciate and am greatly entertained by your choice to dance upon that precipice! 🤣 1 Quote

Hmmm... well, I'm not married, and you can't bleed a turnip. I guess I'm buying that H535 after all! 2 Quote

gorch Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 No additions to the staple this year as it seems. Just a few weeks to go, it would surprise me when something popped up I couldn’t resist. Quote
LucSulla Posted December 8, 2024 Author Posted December 8, 2024 Well, here's how I did. Two Talladegas, One H535, A Bogner Shiva with matching 2x12, and a Friedman Plex. So, I completely and utterly failed. 1 2 Quote

crunchee Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 (edited) I THOUGHT I had bought something this year, but it turns out that those purchases were from 2023, so I guess I'm still Master Of My Domain. Funny how time slips away. Edited December 9, 2024 by crunchee 1 Quote

Camstone Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 I never made any commitments to the challenge. Only four new acquisitions for 2024. 4 Quote
