Kerry Marchman Posted April 23, 2024 Posted April 23, 2024 (edited) Love it when a 31 year old Hamer in 9+ condition turns up at a local Guitar center of all places.. Bone stock, original case, and even had the little Hamer zip lock baggie with the truss rod wrench. I think The Hamer Gods were shining down on me. Frets are like new, a few minor clear coat dings, and that's it. Case is super clean too. 1993 Studio, but has a bigger neck than all the other 93's that I have owned. And, the price was very fair, considering the times we live in. I'm stoked to have it! Stayed up late cleaning and setting it up. Gonna wail on it today! I actually sent a buddy an email that said I just couldn't leave a USA Hamer hanging in that big, mean store and that it HAD to be rescued! Edited April 24, 2024 by Kerry Marchman 4 Quote

I guess what I mean by that is the have the sound you would expect, such as fat, smooth cleans from the neck and thick crunchy lead tones. They both overdrive very well on both pickups. The '81 Special has a totally different vibe. It wants to start feeding back as soon as the overdrive is kicked in on either pickup. The cleans have a good bit more chime, and it just has that overall ring from older drier wood. The '81 has the stock DiMarzio PAF's in it, with the out of phase middle position. The '93 is stock with the '59 Duncan and JB in the bridge, and my '96 has a custom wound set of Rio Grande Texas Buckers in it. They are very PAF like. All three play beautifully, but the '81's frets are a bit lower than the two newer guitars. Sorry for the book.🙂 2 1 Quote

I have the newer ones, and I have other guitars from this period,82 or so, but not a Sunburst and I've been curious about them.. The Slammer pickups are just beautiful, especially the first generation humbuckers that measure 8 something k,.. very reactive to volume and tone changes thx again! Quote
