Q: Is the Hamer Fan Club affiliated or sponsored by Hamer Guitars?
A: No. The Hamer Fan Club is owned and operated by Ted Martin and is devoted to the lovers of Hamer Guitars. Members are asked (but not required) to make a small contribution to cover server and Web hosting expenses.

Q: Ok, I registered, but why can’t I post?
A: After you sign up, you become a “Validating Member.” Validating Members can view the Main board and the For Sale board, but can not post anywhere until they are validated. If you have signed up and are waiting in Limbo to be validated, email cmatthes. Once we take a quick look at your account, we’ll let you in. Otherwise, we’ll probably wait a week or so and delete you.
A: The Outer Circle is one of the forums on the Hamer Fan Club. It is the forum devoted to any topic that is not music-related. Other than Politics, nothing is out of bounds, but common decency is still required. Because of the potential for off color topics, PARENTAL GUIDANCE STRONGLY SUGGESTED.
Q: Ok, now that I know what the Outer Circle is, how do I get in?
A: All supporting members have access to the Outer Circle. Those wishing to become a Supporting Member can make a small contribution via PayPal or by check to The HFC Server Fund.
A: Two ways:
- If the image is hosted somewhere in Cyberspace, copy the image and paste it into the test area as you type your post. Voila! Or…
- Drag the image from your computer right into the text field. I twill appear right where you are typing.
Q: What year was my Hamer guitar made?
A: This page should explain it in detail.
Q: Who is the keeper of the serial number database?
A: The database was compiled over many years by Hamer aficionado, “Serial” Steve Matthes, and is provided as a service by Steve with his permission. He is solely responsible for the content in the list, and the list can be removed by him at any time.
Q: Why can’t I find my guitar’s serial number in the Serial Number database?
A: Steve keeps his master list and updates the online list when he is able. If you have submitted your guitar’s serial number to him, it is on the master list. It is just a matter of time before it appears online. The list is limited to USA Hamer guitars and basses. If your USA Hamer guitar or bass does not appear there, submit it via email to Serial Steve.

Q: Where can I catch up on the latest news from Hamer USA?
A: Simply put, there isn’t any. Best you just hang out on the message board.
Q: Where can I get all of the awesome Hamer Fan Club merchandise that I’ve heard so much about?
A: Click here and break out that credit card. There’s everything there from t-shirts to coffee mugs, all branded with a number of official unofficial HFC logos and patent-applied-for HFC slogans. Fishnets, Butcher, shark-fin picks KSFM regalia, $20 bills torn in half… It’s all there! Any comments reminiscent of current and/or former living or dead HFC members is purely intentional.
Q: How do I contact a moderator?
A: Click here and type away! Keep in mind that the Moderators (well, most of them) have lives that exist outside the realm of the HFC. A lot of them even have jobs and a family that may or may not take priority to communication on and off the message board. If your email is not answered right away, either try emailing another Moderator, or wait patiently – hands folded atop your computer table.

Don’t step or crap on someone’s “For Sale” post.
This includes comments pertaining to an asking price which you feel might be too high, that you also have one of these for sale, or your general dislike for the model or brand of the item in question (or for the seller for that matter). Also, do not make offers, lowball or otherwise, as a reply in the poster’s thread. That’s what the Private Message feature is for.
Do use the Search feature.
It works really well, and can save you some time and embarrassment.
Don’t post a ‘F&%$ You Guys’ or Waterloo Speech/Goodbye Post.
Instead, just go away. No one cares. Actually, feel free to post those. We like to make fun of you after you “leave.”
Do include links to that online “whatever-it-is thing” of which you are posting.
“Heads up” posts referring to “that guitar for sale on eBay” without a link is not only frustrating, but the opposite of what was intended by your post in the first place. It’s more like a “heads down.” We’re not mind readers and mind readers don’t need a “heads up.” Mind readers already know, don’t they?

You’ll find answers to a lot of questions that people email and post about repeatedly – hence the name.
Do use the Private Message and Email links provided when trying to contact another HFCer.
Starting a thread to have Bob call you, answer his email, or to find out if he has been getting enough rest would be the exact opposite of this. If so-and-so is not answering his phone or his emails, he might not want to talk to you (or maybe he’s catching up on his rest, after all). Likewise, replying to said poster’s inquiry, ie: “I got your email, thanks” or “Sorry…I overslept” is just perpetuating the problem. No one wants to be included in your private discussions – especially when they are, without exception, tediously boring. And on that point…
Don’t post “Where’s So-and-So” threads. If you care enough about someone to wonder why they haven’t posted on the board in a while, or what they are currently up to, you probably know how to contact them by other means and ask them directly. Please do so.
